Pack Schedule:
February 19 – Blue and Gold Dinner
To commemorate the organization of the Boy Scouts of America
in 1910 and to celebrate the birthday of Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of the Boy
Scouts organization.
The banquet is traditionally held as the February pack meeting because
Baden-Powell was born February 22, 1857.
The
term “Blue and Gold” is used because those are the official colors of the Cub
Scout organization. Blue represents truth and loyalty, and gold
represents good cheer, happiness, and helping others.
At
this meeting, we will say goodbye to Mr. Zipf, our retiring Cubmaster, and
welcome our new Cubmaster, Terry Ocheltree. In
addition, our cub scouts will receive the recognition they have earned.
Bobcat badges will be given to scouts who
have completed the basic accomplishments required of cub scouts, e.g. the scout
oath, motto, etc., in a ceremony to formally induct them into the pack.
The
Arrow of Light, cub scouting’s
highest award, and the only badge that can be worn on the Boy Scout uniform
will be presented.
In
a Bridging Ceremony, our Webelos
II scouts will graduate from Cub Scout Pack 246 to join the Boy Scouts.
